Loopers

The Good
This was a deep and moving read indeed, as I expected to just get my good anime sci-fi with time loops and nothing more. The characters are relatable, and you'll quickly start caring for them.

The Bad
Maybe it's a bit too short.

The Bottom Line
It’s about two young people, Tyler and Hilda, getting randomly sucked into a time loop nicknamed “the Spiral”, forced to live the same day over and over. Luckily, they’re not alone, as they meet other people that have been trapped like them since before the protagonists first arrived. These people had previously formed into a group, going by the name of “the Loopers”, with the aim of finding a way to escape the time loop.

After each day passes, everything gets reset, aside from the Loopers’ memories, which means that the Loopers will neither age nor die, as even if they were to fall from a skyscraper, they’d simply respawn the day after like nothing happened, although with the added baggage of still remembering such an experience. Thanks to this unique phenomenon, the Loopers can perform many actions that would be impossible or not viable in real life, such as spending enormous sums of money and then getting it all back as the loop resets, traveling the world (as long as the trip is over in a day), eating as much as they want, or simply chilling and escaping responsibilities.

While it would be truly amazing to stop time and escape from the future, it is also true that living in a time loop can have severe consequences on one’s psyche. The Loopers, for example, whilst at first really enjoying their time in the Spiral, soon began to run out of things to do.
