Wizard Royal
Description
After a magic-war between good and evil, good has lost. The remaining good wizards have been turned into owls. The only way for the wizards to regain their non-avian form is to travel through time and across continents to collect some magical boxes and take them to the "Cave of Eternity".
Wizard Royal is a platform puzzle game. There are twenty levels supplied with the game, each containing four or five screens. There is also an in-built level editor. Every screen contains some combination of fixed platforms, ropes and vines for climbing up or across, and water and vegetation which slow your progress. There may also be moving platforms, traps of various sorts and enemies that may block your path or shoot flames/projectiles at regular intervals. Transporters are located on each screen, allowing you to travel to the previous or the next screen.
You control a wizard owl as he wanders between the screens from the selected level. One of these screens will contain an entrance to the "Cave of Eternity", which needs to be opened with a key. Magical boxes lie scattered about on most screens. Once collected, these boxes may be deposited in the unlocked cave at any time. Carrying many boxes at once will cause your owl to slow substantially, so it may be a good idea to get rid of them as soon as possible. Some boxes are difficult to get to, and may require you to use a magic spell to blast a hole in the platform immediately behind you. But be careful this doesn't leave you trapped. Other helpful items include time bonuses, and armor which allows you to pass some traps unharmed.
You start the game with five lives. These may be lost by getting caught in a trap, running into an enemy, or having to restart a screen after getting stuck (after which any blasted sections of platform get re-filled). Losing all lives, or allowing your time to run out will lose the game.
The game was released in both high-res monochrome and low-res colour formats. The colour version also comes with additional digitized sound effects.
