Description

Computer Games for Businesses, Schools and Homes is a book containing 27 type-in games and other entertainment listings in 8K DEC BASIC. It comes with the following games:

  • Basket - A textual basketball game for two players. The offensive player has 10 options and the moving player has three options each turn.
  • Blackjack - A version of the casino card game where the goal is to get a card value as close to 21 without going over.
  • Boggle - A version of the code breaking game Mastermind.
  • Bullet - A game of Russian roulette.
  • Dogs - A betting game revolving around dog racing.
  • Escape - A tactical top-down game in which you try to evade enemies and lure them into mines.
  • Fish - A variant of the children's card game Go Fish.
  • Golf - A text-based golf game with 18 holes.
  • Gunner - An artillery game.
  • Horse - A luck-based dice game around the theme of horses.
  • Jackpot - A simulation of a one-armed-bandit slot machine.
  • Kismet - A version of the dice game Yahtzee.
  • Notone - A dice game in which the player scores the points on a pair of die thrown each time, but loses everything from the current round when repeating the first roll.
  • Poker - A draw poker card game.
  • Roll On - A dice game in which the player must eliminate a set of numbers and loses when running out of valid options.
  • Skeedoodle - A calculation game played against the computer. Certain numbers score points and the player and computer take turns giving a number, but their number needs to derive from the previous number and cannot have been said before.
  • Star Trek - A simulation of a battle between the starship Enterprise and a Klingon ship.
  • Stock - A game about buying and selling stocks.
  • Tennis - A text-based tennis game. Each turn the player must give their placement and shot type.
  • Tic-Tac-Toe - The classic game of three-in-a-row.

The following non-games are also included:

  • Biorhythm - A pseudo-scientific tool to see your biorhythms graphed out.
  • Compat - Another pseudo-scientific tool related to biorhythms.
  • Date - A calculation tool to find out the day of the week for any given date.
  • Easter - Another calculation tool, but this time for what date Easter falls.
  • Poem - Computer generated poetry using player input.
  • Psycho - A psychological test.
  • Taplab - Print text to a paper tape.
