Iron Cross

Iron Cross is a 1-player World War II strategy game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

The player controls Nazi forces as they storm into Russia on 22 June 1941. The goal is to capture the major Russian cities using Nazi forces. Gameplay occurs on a map of Eastern Europe, and the player control cavalry units, panzer corps, tank armies, and infantry units. Each player takes turns moving forces and attacking enemies units. Forces can be moved in standard, attrition, blitz, entrench, and march mode, which effect speed and combat ability. Forces will be resupplied each month if they can make a direct line back to their side of the screen. Better supplied units fight better in combat. Each unit has a zone of control, forcing enemies to engage in combat if they enter this area.

Game play occurs in 1 week time units. Weather effects troop movement, and mud season slows the German advance. Rivers and lakes freeze solid in the winter. There are 5 levels of difficulty, with more difficult challenges including more Russian forces and longer play time. Games can be saved in progress.
