ZX Spectrum screenshots

thumbnail
This screen is displayed as the game loads
thumbnail
This screen follows the load screen. Text scrolls across the bottom with copyright information & developer credits. A key must be pressed in order to progress
thumbnail
The game' main menu. Pressing 1 or 2 cycles through the available controllers for each player. Help text scrolls across the bottom of the screen
thumbnail
Option 3 from the main menu allows the player(s) to choose which kind of game arena they want to play in. Again help text scrolls across the bottom of the screen
thumbnail
With the controllers and the game area both selected all that remains is to decide how long a match will last
thumbnail
The game now has to load the game ready for play. This also occurs after each match
thumbnail
The start of a game in 'The Hills'. Both players stand either side of a hill with the ball on top. The goals are at the top of the ramps at either side
thumbnail
Within seconds Player One scores, unfortunately this was the computer as I was struggling with the controls.
thumbnail
After a goal the play area is reset and the game progresses until the countdown reaches zero. The current score scrolls diagonally across the top edge of the play area
thumbnail
In the last minute of play the countdown timer is displayed against a red background.
thumbnail
At the end of the game the winner is displayed. The game does not show the full score, which in this case was 13-0, just who won
thumbnail
Then the current score of games won is displayed. After this the game re-displays the 'Please Wait' screen while it reloads the game and then the whole cycle repeats.
thumbnail
The start of a game on "The Ditches" play area. I had to go through a full reset & reload to play a game on another arena and this, of course, cleared the games won scores
thumbnail
This screen shot shows that when Player Two scores a goal its displayed in a different colour. It also shows that it's possible to score an own goal.
thumbnail
The start of a game in "Wave City"
thumbnail
The game always keeps the ball on-screen. This is a problem for an inexperienced player because they don't know what direction their character is facing
thumbnail
This is the Megamix play area
thumbnail
The head of the player with possession of the ball always floats above the body, I guess that's because it's so excited
