Hero of Sparta

The Good
The game offers a great Ancient Greek beat-up and platforming experience (though the story is a distorted abomination of the real Greek legends).
In the game the player assumes the role of King Argos of Sparta who leads his armies against an evil cult. After being shipwrecked alone on a strange island Argos has to finish the job on his own by brutally massacring all that cross his path.
The game lets the player visit a wide variety of scenery and locations ranging from Atlantis or the underworld to scaling a mechanical giant. As the player makes progress more powerful weapons are unlocked including a bow, chain blades and a gigantic sword as well as health and energy upgrades. Another point I liked about the game are the really nice 2D graphics and the wide variety of enemies. These include various animals, skeletons and mythological creatures. There are also several great boss fights.

The Bad
Sometimes the the player's combos are broken off by quick time events for no apparent reason. These distract a little from the otherwise great game play. The final boss fight was a little disappointing.

The Bottom Line
If you like playing beat-up games and don't mind a little platforming every now and then this is a great game. Possibly the greatest 2D mobile game of its kind. It gave me a similar feel as when I played some of my other favorites like Golden Axe and God of War.
