Arctic Quest

Arctic Quest is a puzzle game where a large, irregular shape needs to be filled in with small pieces of ice resembling jewels. There is a background story explaining how the Snow Kong, retaliating against global warming, has frozen tropical islands. The player needs to help to bring back warmth.

There is no single solution for a puzzle as the player chooses where to place the pieces until the shape is complete. The mouse is used to click, snag and drag the pieces as they fall down from the top of the screen at a constant rate and the right mouse button is used to rotate them. A level is completed when the shape is restored entirely. Not all pieces fit, eventually when the shape is almost complete, and redundant pieces can be discarded by throwing them into a fire or in the water. However, when the water is completely filled with pieces of ice before the shape is complete, the level is lost.

The player clicks a button in the HUD to make a new piece appears from the top of the screen. Different types of fish and creatures provide bonuses or ways to complete the puzzle. A pufferfish can be used to fill up an empty triangle, a snail slows down time, a hammerfish can be used to hit a piece of ice to break it, an octopus can be used to snatch a piece of ice from the grid or the water, a shark eats all the ice in the water, and a crab transforms all the ice in the water into little triangles. Fish and birds provide extra points. Treasure is available through pearls provided by inserting a piece of ice in a triangle containing one. A pearl is also provided with every 5,000 points. Three types of medals are earned for completing levels in specific ways.

The game contains 60 levels and there is a duel with the Snow King at the end.
