Coaster Combat

Coaster Combat is a VR roller coaster game that distinguishes itself from other roller coaster games with randomized tracks and a collection element. The Quest version of Coaster Combat is expanded from the earlier releases on Gear VR and Oculus Go. There are more themes to choose from: Volcanic Valley, Cursed Castle, Pirate Paradise, Himalaya Heights and the new Neon Night. All tracks are included in the base game unlike the earlier version which required separate purchases.

Gameplay remains mostly identical in that the player needs to hit collectibles along the track. The track pieces also have random events, enemies and collectibles making each ride different. Based on the number of collectibles hit in a ride the player is scored and can receive a medal. New is that now the player can dual wield with two weapons in a full six degrees of freedom interaction for both hands. Each track can now be played in two different difficulty modes (easy and hard) and a free ride mode which forgoes the "combat" part by removing the collectibles and enemy attacks. The power-up that spawns additional collectibles that was previously only available in Himalaya Heights is now available in all themes.

The Gold Rush mechanic already present in the earlier releases of the game, is now enhanced in an unlockable game mode. In this mode the player is presented with random rides of hard difficulty and must get a gold medal to continue the streak. Scores for Gold Rush and individual tracks can be compared with Oculus friends and local accounts which can be created in-game. Getting high streaks unlocks golden skins for the various weapons and carts that the player uses in the different themes.
