An amusing alternative to Solitaire and Minesweeper
The Good
Block Breaker is a simple game, there is no doubt about it. A simple paddle game involving no special features. It did includes tons of levels grouped into patterns such as: maze, rainbow, system, and fruits. The amount of levels meant every now and then you could come back to it and play something different each time. The maze levels were the most innovative and the best. I persevered for ages on some levels of this game because of its addictive quality which stemmed from its simpleness and like all simple games.
The Bad
However, like all simple games, you know exactly what to expect and this game is a mere clone with no innovative features. Hence it is shareware. Although I earlier praised the maze levels, they often became very irritating because there were only a few blocks to destroy and you didn’t have much control over the ball as once it entered the maze, you had just to stare at it and hope it bounced around the right corners to get to the blocks you needed. You only bounced the ball when it came out of the maze and you could only put it back in at different angles to try and get it to go to different places.
The Bottom Line
A simple, yet fun game to play every once in a while when you would normally load up one of the free Windows games.
