Dakar 2005

Dakar 2005 is a racing game based around the annual Dakar desert rally that was held between 31st December 2004 and 16th January 2015 from Barcelona to Dakar. Players get to race twelve stages, either in the Rally mode or in the Time Trial mode once a stage has been completed in the first. The car is driven using a behind view. The player is able to accelerate and shift gears, brake and steer. The HUD shows the progress for the distance, the damage the engine has sustained and the remaining fuel. While driving an icons appears when a hazard is coming up. These obstacles need to be avoided to prevent damage. Every now and then spanner icons appears on the course and those can be picked up to repair the vehicle. When a checkpoint is passed the car is refuelled.
