Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 2

Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune 2 is the second game in the Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune racing series based on the Wangan Midnight manga. It builds on the gameplay of the first game Wangan Midnight: Maximum Tune without radical changes. The arcade setup consists of two units that are used for local versus multiplayer in the VS Player mode. This time there is a new course branching system adding more variety to races. The cabinet's controls are designed to resemble a real car with a steering wheel, brake pedals and gear shift. As in the first game a Tuning card can be used to save data such as the driver name, class, type of car and Story mode progress.

The other game modes are a Story mode now expanded to 80 stages of which the last 40 are based on the manga's story, a Time Attack mode and a new Outrun mode. In the latter the player needs to pass 10 consecutively harder racers on one track. There are ten difficulty levels for each course. This version also adds Hakone as a new course, a class system that represents the driver's experience and more tuning options. Maximum horsepower for all cars is now 815 and there is new background music with 31 tracks in total. The game contains 19 cars licensed from the manufacturers Gemballa (only for the Japanese version), Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru and Toyota.
