Derek Jeter Pro Baseball 2005
Description
Derek Jeter Pro Baseball 2005 is the first entry in Gameloft's annual baseball game series. The game features both batting and pitching as well as fielding and running. When batting or pitching the game uses a behind view of the batter which when the ball is hit switches to a bird's view perspective. Pitching is done by choosing one of four pitch types and then moving a cursor over the strike zone. Batting involves timing the swing as the ball reaches the strike zone with dedicated keys for fly balls, grounders and aiming left or right. When defending fielders can dive or jump after the ball and throwing is done by entering the number of one of the bases.
The game has four game modes: quick plays, exhibition games, seasons and playoffs. Other than Derek Jeter himself, none of the teams or players are licensed. The season can be played with either 29 or 58 games and it's possible to simulate matches without playing them. Some minor management options exist with the player being able to change the team's lineup and the pitching rotation.
