A new thread for a new year.

Like in previous threads, if you come across a developer page that you feel requires some work, but aren't completely sure what's correct, feel free to post it here and hopefully we can get it sorted out. Just post the developer name as the subject when starting a new sub-thread.

  • The links for these two: Tim Harrington / Tim Harrington are mixed up; the Wikipedia article belongs to the one with GTA4 credit, while the Discogs profile belongs to the one with Juiced credit.
  • Ricardo Ducant -> Ducent
  • Viktor Tsoy -> Tsoi; Tsoy should be the Also Known As
  • Sergey Parhomenko -> Parkhomenko as Also Known As
  • Ruslana Stepanivna Lyzhychko -> Ruslana Lyzhychko; Stepanivna is her patronymic
  • Character Design credits on Zelda games from Alexander Vasiliev should be moved to A. Vasiliev

These are the ones I couldn't find their first names: S. Mitchell / M. Wellington / D. Castro / N. Olsen / J. Olsen

Ron Allen: https://www.mobygames.com/developer/sheet/view/developerId,613144/

There's two or three people between these two profiles.

A musician in 18862 which should be split;
A tester, most of his credits are in 18662, but he also has two in 613144;
And the Sony dev who has Production, Design and Thanks credits. There's a good chance the QA tester and the SCEA Bend / Bend Studio dev are the same person, but I couldn't find info to confirm this (he has no LinkedIn that I could find.) Someone should ask him...

I believe Jakob Kaufmann needs to be merged into Jake Kaufman (virt).

Well, the first work I did for that company (Paragon 5) was unpaid, a hobbyist-with-commercial-aspirations game called Drymouth. Game never got published.

There's also this tweet saying this user received tracker files for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire from Kaufman.

Not sure who this guy is but if an admin can check the backend, it might be him too.

well, merge should definitely happen, but seems like 68261 should be also split, hm? wolfenstein credits definitely for a split; not sure about remaining ones in 'other' group as these seem to be rather correct;

Yeah it looks like the Wolfenstein credits are for... a baby.

https://www.ocregister.com/2014/03/27/irvine-teen-asks-congress-to-fund-research-for-tuberculosis/

This article talks about Caryn Kaufman and his son Jake - a teenager who was 15 years old when that article was printed. Both of them lived in California, and Gray Matter Studios was located in California during the early 2000s. Seems the Kaufmans credited on those Wolfenstein games may have been related to Michael Kaufman (art director on Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Redneck Rampage.)

So, Jake from Wolfenstein needs to be split to a new listing.

Takeshi Sato is possibly the same person as Tsuyoshi Sato - 剛 can be read both ways and I'm thinking this might have just been an error with the English credits.

a) The credits for Time Stalkers are credited to 佐藤 剛 at T's Music (many of Takeshi Sato's credits are at T's music, also see the VGMdb profile).

b) Re: Sega GT - While T's Music isn't mentioned (and the game's JP credits are in English), both Shinji Yoshikawa & Tarō Hara are also at T's Music - the latter also worked with him on Sakura Taisen 2.

Based on the above, I'm assuming that these 2 credits belong to Takeshi Sato.

There's also another Tsuyoshi Sato, but this is the Audio Engineer at MIT Studio (VGMdb page).

I worked on Chaos Reborn (Early Access 2014, Full Release 2015) as "Additional Programmer" (https://www.mobygames.com/game/chaos-reborn). I also worked as "Gameplay Programmer" (in the credits under "Engineering") on Black Powder Red Earth, released 2021: https://www.mobygames.com/game/black-powder-red-earth https://store.steampowered.com/app/988490/Black_Powder_Red_Earth/ I didn't work on any of the other games listed (that must be another Mark Billington:). You could split me out as: Mark "🍪biscuits✨" Billington or even just "🍪biscuits✨" if possible:) I go by "🍪biscuits✨" when I'm online now:) You can talk to me on Steam to verify that I worked on BPRE (I have [developer] tag still at https://steamcommunity.com/id/cqbiscuit/ (I'm not often online with that ID, however, so need warning in advance:)); I'm no longer with Snapshot, so I don't have [dev] tags for Chaos, but you can see my name in the credits:) I raised a correction: https://www.mobygames.com/user/sheet/view/approvals/as,2/at,49/userSheetId,874973/ a couple of months ago and am wondering if I can expedite it somehow. It feels weird seeing "me" credited for a load of stuff I've not worked on:) Regards, MarkB/ 🍪biscuits✨

Mapping a few debugger names for Wario Land 4.

T. Hosoi = Toshimune Hosoi

M. Kawakita = Mika Kawakita

Y. Eguchi = Yasuyo Eguchi

Y. Matsumoto = Yoshiyuki Matsumoto (1272026)

H. Miyoshi = Hiroki Miyoshi

H. Ookura = Hayato Ookura

M. Mori = Masaki Mori (841580, not the sound guy)

Y. Murata = Yuichiro Murata

H. Takeda = Hiroya Takeda (do not include the programming credit in the main Hiroya Takeda page)

M. Takahashi = Masakazu Takahashi

K. Miyake = Keisuke Miyake

H. Inaba = Hisashi Inaba (no official English credits, but a Super Mario Club debugger by the name of Hisashi Inaba can be found in the Japanese credits of Jump Superstars, transcription and source video: http://kyoto-report.wikidot.com/forum/t-15225752/jump-superstars-2005)

N. Iwata = Naoki Iwata (this is a different person from the already existing Naoki Iwata profile; much like Inaba he has no official game credits but a Naoki Iwata can be found in the credits of Nintendo Puzzle collection, transcription and source screenshots here: http://raido.moe/staff/gc/gc_nintendo_puzzle_collection.html)

just to check - you found this by looking up some other games or is there some new source for credits with full names?

user avatar

SpaceFanatic64 (530) on 10/21/2022 8:04 PM · edited · Permalink · Report

I found the names by looking at other credits that listed Mario Club debuggers, and using that I pieced matching names together. In the process I was also able to uncover some more stuff that hadn't been posted here.

Right, I am going to post some split dilemmas I'd like some advice and second opinions on.

The first one:

I think the first credit of George Bray, Reach for the Stars: The Conquest of the Galaxy (1983) is another developer than the other credits.

  1. The dev himself mentions on Twitter that his first job in the games industry was in 1987 for CDS Software Ltd (the tweet is protected in the meantime and I don't have an archived copy, but here at least some proof that the Twitter George Bray worked for that company (CDS Software = Idigicon)).
  2. he is English and that first game is an Australian one

Cantillon (86692) on 10/22/2022 11:26 PM · edited · Permalink · Report

Then there is Stephen Hand. I think there is a UK developer (MicroProse) and an Australian developer (Strategic Studies Group) in here.

The latter seems to enjoy medieval fencing, see his email at the bottom (shand [at] ssg.com.au). -> https://stoccata.org/about/provosts/stephen-hand/ : "Stephen Hand was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1964. [...] Moving to Sydney in 1989 [...] In 2004 Stephen returned to his native Tasmania".

This is an interview with the former who also wrote the Fighting Fantasy book Dead of Night. And apparently is also the guy who designed Chainsaw Warrior.

The only game I am not sure of is Dragon Age: Origins, which might even be a third person.

That might be yet another one, as in the credits I see:

Additional Programming -> Steven Hand

Special Thanks -> Stephen Hand

Seems rather strange they would get his name correct the first time, and wrong the second mention. I reached out to the first one on LinkedIn just now.

Cantillon (86692) on 11/18/2022 8:18 AM · Permalink · Report

I also contacted Steve Hand, and he says the same:

"It has never been mentioned to me before, not even when I worked at BioWare. I’m confident it must be someone else. I can’t think of any reason they would list me in the special thanks section."

user avatar

Cantillon (86692) on 11/10/2022 9:15 AM · Permalink · Report

I contacted the Australian developer and he is indeed not the MicroProse developer, so I split his credits already.

Hello,

I'm dedicated gamer and games developer as well. I know MobyGames for years but decided to create account just now, so I'm using this opportunity to introduce myself as well.

I'm credited in several games here, but I don't know how to link developer bio on MobyGames with my account. I guess only way is to get in touch with admins, so I'm replying on this thread.

Here's link to "my" developer id: Vladimir Dienes

Cheers.

It seems to me Christophe Ha 308312 is the same developer as Christopher Ha 343672.

The latter mentions on his Facebook he Went to collège/lycée rodin and is From Paris, France, and on his LinkedIn he has an endorsement from Jacques Louradour who also worked for Kheops Studio for one year.

Mike Rennie ( https://www.mobygames.com/person/76071/mike-rennie/credits/ ) incorrectly merges two developers with the same name into one.

The developer who worked on Train Simulator is a different person and should be split off. Here is the proof (the Train Simulator Mike Rennie runs a studio called Smokebox): https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/a-question-about-mike-rennie-of-smokebox.72697/#post-701310
