Biography edit · view history
Simon Butler has been in the industry since 1983 when he worked on his first title, Pedro's Garden for the "legendary" and ill-fated Imagine Software.
He has worked on over 300 individual titles.
He has worked for Ocean, Team 17, Vicarious Visions, Probe, Magnetic Fields, Atari and many others.
He freelanced out of his home town of Liverpool, where since 2000 he had been concentrating on the handheld and mobile markets, producing graphics for the GBC, GBA and mobile phone titles.
He worked in-house in Hamburg, Germany for Elkware until internal development stopped with their takeover by Infospace. In 2006 he worked briefly in Strasbourg France for The Mighty Troglodytes. 2007 saw him working as Lead Game Designer at dtp Entertainment in Hamburg on a kid's MMO, but funding difficulties forced the closure of the team.
2009 saw him working briefly with Bigpoint, the world's largest developer of browser titles in Hamburg and then in 2010 he worked for Altigi, developing their launch title for their games branch GoodGame Studios.
2010 brought short contracts in both Gdansk and Hamburg and he is currently freelancing back in Liverpool on mobile products.
