Overview edit · view history

thatgamecompany is a game development studio founded by University of Southern California Interactive Media Division students Kellee Santiago and Jenova Chen. It was established after the success of Chen's online flash game flOw. It became the first of three PlayStation Network downloable games for the PS3, positioning the company as a second-party developer for Sony. Previously, they also created the game Cloud (2005).

Focusing on stylish visuals and unusual game design, the company's second title for Sony, Flower, was released in 2009 as an downloadable title exclusive to the PlayStation 3. A third title, Journey, was released in 2012. Shortly after the release of the game, in March 2012, co-founder Kellee Santiago announced to leave the studio on amicable terms. Other people who left the studio around the same time were producer Robin Hunicke, Chris Bell and John Nesky.

In June 2012 the company announced that after the three-game deal with Sony future projects would become multiplatform to reach a larger audience.

First released on iOS in 2019, Sky: Children of the Light marks the company's fourth game and first foray into the mobile gaming market.
