Overview edit · view history

Having worked on Quake 3 Fortress and other high-profile mods, Splash Damage, Ltd emerged from the amateur scene and was established in May or June 2001, originally to create custom content.

The company partnered with id Software and Activision, creating additional art for Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War. The company started working on the multiplayer part of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, a commercial expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Eventually, it was decided to cancel the single-player portion and put out the multiplayer part for free. It became a successful online class-based team game and was used in many leagues.

Next, Splash Damage did the multiplayer design in the Xbox version of Doom³ and in 2007 they finished Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, the spiritual successor to Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory but now set in the Quake universe.

In the 2010s, they developed Brink, the multiplayer portion of Batman: Arkham Origins, Dirty Bomb and did additional development in the Gears of War series.

In the 2020s, they released console ports of Maneater and contributed to The Expanse: A Telltale Series.
