Overview edit · view history
Nixxes Software BV is an independent development studio based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It was founded in August 1999 by Jurjen Katsman and initially he was the sole employee. The studio was named after the nickname NiX he used in the Dutch demo scene. The company came about after Katsman had worked in England at Eidos Interactive and later Crystal Dynamics (for Eidos). He eventually wanted to return to his home country when Eidos was also looking to port Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver to the PC. He founded his studio and took on the project. The port was released in 2000.
Since then, the company has been working on a large amount of projects, providing additional development or porting games to new platforms. Nixxes does not develop original content. Projects the company has worked on include different games in the Tomb Raider series and the Legacy of Kain series, Project: Snowblind (2005), and Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days (2010), all for Eidos.
The studio's latest work was the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution (2011). At the start of that project the company employed 14 people.
