Overview edit · view history
Red Mile Entertainment, Inc. is a worldwide developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software founded in August 2004. Headquartered in Sausalito, California, the company creates, incubates and licenses premier intellectual properties and develops products for console video game systems, personal computers and other interactive entertainment platforms.
One of the major publishing deals involved the US publishing rights for Heroes of the Pacific (2005), created by the Australian development studio IR Gurus Interactive Pty Ltd., which prompted Red Mile Entertainment to attempt and purchase the remaining shares and thus acquire the company. In the end the deal did not go through however.
Earlier in January of that year, the company had already scooped the assets of Canadian casual games distributor and developer RoverActive Inc.
In May of 2007, Red Mile announced to have acquired the worldwide license rights to the Sin City graphic novel by Frank Miller and in June the company announced Jackass: The Game based on the popular TV franchise in cooperation with MTV. The title was in development at Transmission Games (former IR Gurus Interactive), but in August 2008 Red Mile announced that it had been handed to another, undisclosed development studio, already quite some before.
In March 2008 a major reorganization was put in motion to reduce the operating costs. Glenn Wong was replaced as president by Simon Price and the company's CFO Ben Zadik resigned. Three months later, in July 2008, the entire company was acquired by SilverBirch Studios Inc. (said to be completed early 2009) and received a $735,000 USD bridge loan.
