Overview edit · view history
Consult Computer Systems was formed in 1986 as a small 2 man team to develop IT solutions for local small businesses. The 2 members were Glenn Benson and David Kelly. This business plan wasn't working and another approach was needed so an idea was hatched to develop games.
Whilst looking for a graphic artist they made their initial contact with Mike Singleton. Through this contact they were contracted to do some preliminary work on a new project called Dark Sceptre and then employed a graphic artist David Price.
Mike Singleton was developing other ideas and put their name to Melbourne House and were given the contract to develop Throne Of Fire. For this job they employed Sinclair Spectrum programmers Jim Bagley, Dave Sharp and graphic artist Dave Wharton while Glenn Benson coded the CPC version.
During the development of Throne of Fire, Consult were offered the contract to complete Dark Sceptre by Beyond. This was the real birth of Consult. They moved into offices and employed another programmer Chris Pink and another graphic artist.
