Overview edit · view history
Squanch Games, Inc. is a virtual reality game development studio established in 2016 by Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and former Epic Games Executive Producer Tanya Watson. They are known for their humorous titles, for instance collaborating with Crows Crows Crows on the Accounting games.
The company was first established as Squanchtendo Games, a portmanteau of Squanch (a planet from Rick & Morty) and Japanese platform holder Nintendo. On 5th December 2017 the company announced to rebrand as Squanch Games to avoid any potential clash with Nintendo, even though Nintendo did not contest the name nor sought legal action.
On 8th January 2022 it was announced Tanya Watson stepped down as CEO with Justin Roiland taking over the next month, transitioning from the studio’s Chief Creative Officer to CEO. Watson stayed aboard as a consultant.
