VG Entertainment (formerly Vostok Games) is a game development studio established in March 2012 and based in Kyiv, Ukraine. The team is made up of veterans from GSC Game World, best known for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise, and the new studio was formed when it was announced in December 2011 that GSC would be closed. At the time the team was working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Unable to reach an agreement to license the franchise, Vostok announced Survarium in April 2012. It was a free2play MMOFPS game set in the near future. The game focused on a mass-scale ecological catastrophe on Earth. After the Survarium shutdown, the studio started its work on a new project.

The name Vostok explained:
"Vostok 1" is the first space apparatus to have taken a man (Yury Gagarin) to the orbit of Earth. The company name symbolizes a brave step towards the new experience provided by technologies. This reflects our philosophy – movement in line with technological progress, developed in harmony with the environment, where, on top of fun, players receive valuable skills and understandings applicable in real life as well.
