Overview edit · view history

Respawn Entertainment is a development studio based in the USA and founded on 12 April 2010 by Jason West and Vince Zampella. Both were previously managers at Infinity Ward, an Activision-owned development studio known for the Call of Duty series.

Zampella and West left the company after a legal dispute with Activision over the royalties for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. With Respawn Entertainment, they signed to the EA Partners program, where Respawn retained all the rights to the intellectual property. Their first titles were in the Titanfall series.

On 9 November 2017, Electronic Arts announced their intent to purchase Respawn Entertainment, and the acquisition was completed on 1 December 2017. Since then, Respawn Entertainment has published Apex Legends in February 2019, with no direct involvement from EA, and the Star Wars: Jedi series since 2019.
