Audiokinetic was founded in 2000 by Martin H. Klein, President and CEO. Klein, working with a group of dedicated veterans and experts from the music, film, and gaming industries, set out to develop the audio middleware Wwise.

Its first physical location opened in Montreal, Quebec in 2003. Audiokinetic designs audio middleware that provides the gaming industry with an audio pipeline solution. The software integrates a complete audio authoring tool with a sound engine, as an audio development solution for both sound designers and audio programmers.
