Overview edit · view history
Mind Shear Software began its existence as Channel 7 Software, a collaboration by Robert Morgan and Jeremy Holt in the front room of Rob's house in Lexington, Kentucky. The first game produced by Channel 7 was Ironseed, a space based game of research and exploration through a galaxy encompassing 12 alien races and 1000 planets. Channel 7 then leapt headlong into the first person, 3-D action genre. In April '95 it began work on In Pursuit of Greed, which is based on an orthogonal game engine that allows for curved ceilings and floors, as well as 8 person network play. Throughout the production of In Pursuit of Greed, Channel 7 began to expand, bringing in more personnel and resources in order to make Greed a solid contender in the games market. At the beginning of 1996, as work on In Pursuit of Greed came to a close, the Channel 7 Software partnership reformed as Mind Shear Software Inc., or MSS. With In Pursuit of Greed preparing to ship, Mind Shear Software has begun work on a tactical level space combat simulator which is slated for a Christmas '96 release. However, it was never released and the company ceased operations in 1996.
Channel 7 Software, or at least its name, was resurrected in 2019 for development on a Ironseed remake.
