The ZX81 is an 8-bit microcomputer by Sinclair Research. The computer was released in March 1981 in the UK. It uses the Zilog Z80 processor. It succeeded the ZX80 and had an introduction price of only £50 in kit form which made it a very attractive offer despite the computer not being very powerful. The computer went on to sell 1.5 million units which is 15 times as much as its predecessor. In 1982 the computer was succeeded by the even more successful ZX Spectrum.
