Channel F, short for Channel Fun, is a second generation video game console by Fairchild. Released in November 1976, the console was initially marketed as the "Video Entertainment System", but was rebranded to avoid confusion with Atari's Video Computer System. In 1979 all rights were sold to Zircon International. The console's production was discontinued in 1983 after the video game crash.
Included in the platform is the Channel F System II, an updated variant which featured detachable controllers and allowed the audio played through the TV instead of an internal speaker.
The console was released under different names internationally: Adman Grandstand Video Entertainment Computer (UK - the System II variant), SABA Videoplay (Germany), ITT Telematch Processor (Germany), Nordmende Color Teleplay µP (Germany), Barco Challenger (Italy and Belgium), Dumon Videoplay (Italy and Belgium), Emerson Videoplay (Italy and Belgium), Luxor Video Entertainment System (Sweden) Luxor Video Entertainment Computer (Sweden - the System II variant).
The console featured two integrated games (Hockey and Tennis) and a further 26 "videocarts" were released until the console was discontinued. More homebrew games were released in more recent times.
There are 30 video games on Channel F. They were released between the years 1976 and 2022. 5 people from 11 developers and publishers are credited with these titles!
