Gra ta wprowadza parę ciekawych innowacji do shooterów tak popularnych ostatnimi czasy. AvsP na pewno dostarczy Wam niezapomnianych wrażeń i emocji. Szczerze mówiąc dawno nie grałem w grę która by tworzyła taki, wręcz niepowtarzalny, klimat.

Oh yes, the most discussed first person shooter lately, the mostly awaited game is finally here! You can choose from your favourite type of live beings - alien, predator or marines and as usually, you're going thru the 3d world destroying all unfriendly other types of live beings to finish your mission. All of them is unique, using different weapons, healing methods.. Atmosphere of the game is really fantastic.

Aliens vs. Predator achieves success in its ability to go beyond the standard FPS fare by offering extremely unique game-playing roles in an environment that faithfully captures the spirit of the Alien movies.

As it also is out in Gold version now, with some extra levels and other goodies, I can do nothing else but to highly recommend it to whoever feels he/her wants to travel into a world of horror and lurking death. One of the best science fiction games ever, based on a few of the best science fiction movies.

But what makes AvP so enjoyable is that for the first time since Aliens on the Spectrum, someone has finally made a decent Aliens game. If there was an award for the scariest game ever, AvP would win it hands-down. It's tense, challenging, frightening and, above all, different. I defy anyone not to enjoy its simplicity and revel in its moments of terror. It's a scream.

My next worry with AvP was gameplay. Could these graphics hold up to the stress of mouse-look? Of course, one must also take into consideration the power of his or her own video card. With the TNT2 chipset, AvP took the challenge, and to my amazement, did not fall to pixilated dust particles. The character movements were smooth and each character was truly bound to their physical framework. No marine was gonna take the same fall that my predator was able to withstand. And no single marine or predator was gonna out-fight an alien up close.

Overall, AvP is an exceptional piece of craftsmanship. It is not without its dings and scratches, but, if you enjoy an occasional walk on the dark side, I wholeheartedly recommend it. I have never seen anything like it. However, when you play, shut the lights off and close the door, it's just better that way.

So, in a resume, how does Aliens versus Predator measure up to the tough competition of today's harsh market? Probably about how a Predator compares to a Marine. They all have their strenghts and weaknesses, but if AvP excels somewhere, it's innovation. The species are extremely well-balanced, and multiplayer is amazing, since different species can, and have to use different tactics to survive. In addition, I believe fans of both movies should be pleased; and while there's no Arnold, the Colonial Marine should do just as well. This game is definitely a keeper - and a creepy keeper at that.

Fox Interactive liefert mit AvP einen 3D-Shooter der Extraklasse. Die ausgewählte Hintergrundgeschichte und deren Umsetzung lassen das Herz jedes Action-Film-Fans höher schlagen. Unbeschreiblich ist der Adrenalin-Stoß, der einen durchfährt, wenn man ein Alien unter der Decke zu spät bemerkt. Das hat bisher kein anderes Spiel dieses Genres derart gut geschafft. Durch die unterschiedlichen Charaktere kann und muß man sich in die Rolle der gewählten Figur versetzen, was höllischen Spaß macht. Jeder, der die Alien und Predator Filme liebt, muß dieses Spiel antesten. Auch 3D-Shooter-Fans werden ihre wahre Freude an AvP haben, obwohl die Taktik nicht unwichtig ist. Damit wird AvP zur Kaufempfehlung für eine sehr große Zielgruppe.

W związku z tym obiecują, że AvP będzie szeroko konfigurowalne w zależności od posiadanych maszyn. Mają być dostępne różne opcje rozdzielczości, detali, jakości tekstur i efektów specjalnych. To ma pozwolić na odpalenie gry nawet na ZX Spectrum, ale koniecznie Plus bo na zwykłym nie pójdzie. Czy tak będzie? Mogę jedynie powiedzieć o swoich doświadczeniach z P II Celeron 300 MHz, 96 MB RAM, AGP Riva 128 (4MB), Maestro 64 bit i potężnymi głośnikami o czeszących basach: Jest git!

If you're a typical game player, you already know the story and concept behind Aliens versus Predator. You've seen the movies, read the comic books, played with the toys, and maybe even helped Jesse Ventura become governor of Minnesota. In 1994, Rebellion software created what is generally considered to be one of the ill-fated Atari Jaguar's best games and the definitive use of the license to date, Alien versus Predator. Five years later, the company has remade the game for the PC, bringing half a decade of technology and gameplay advancements to bear on its previous effort, and the result is excellent.

Fans of either movie or FPS games in general would do well to pick this up. In fact, those veteran gamers who scoff at save-game features constantly must add this to their collections. Casual players might want to hold off; the lack of save ability really does make this game extremely tough.

Overall, Aliens vs. Predator is a fun single player game and is definitely worth checking out if you're a sci fi fan at all, or if you've watched the movies (shame on you if you haven't). Its shortcomings in the multiplayer department are overshadowed by its triumphs in atmosphere, and its innovations in bringing you widely varied gaming experiences through the three species. Rebellion and Fox had a chance to put out a shoddy game that might have sold well based on the license alone, but the overall experience we had with the game show that AvP stands well on its own merits. The game is challenging and enjoyable enough that it's well worth the money, even if you're not familiar with the movies.

Fox Interactive and Rebellion have not so much redefined the 3D action genre as brought some of its strengths into sharper focus. These games are about tension and release, and it is in these areas that Aliens vs. Predator excels. [...] This genre is also about immersion and atmosphere. I will never forget the moment I peered into the gloom as something imperceptible scurried through the shadows. With fingers cinched around the mouse in a caged grip, instinct forced me to squint and lean closer to the screen to see what it was I was about to slay. My throat is still raw from the scream that escaped me when the face hugger leapt up and latched on. In these moments, Aliens vs. Predator was the greatest game I had ever played.

Leider gibt es kleinere Macken, die zu gewissem Punktabzug führen: Sämtliche Level sind durchaus interessant, aber es gibt nur wenige wirklich spektakuläre Stellen. Besonders die optische Präsentation hätte ruhig noch einen kleinen Tick liebevoller ausfallen dürfen. Ein Abspeichern ausschließlich am Ende jeder Mission zuzulassen, wirkt sehr schikanös. Zudem erscheint es als billige Spielverlängerung, daß jeder Einsatz dreimal absolviert werden muß, um alle Bonuslevel zu Gesicht zu bekommen. Die Gegner-KI ist mittelmäßig, und der Multiplayer-Modus macht nur kurzfristig Spaß. Dennoch: Für Spieler, die eine echte Herausforderung suchen, ist dieser Titel trotz der Schwächen ein Pflichtkauf.
