WindFall
- Windfall (1980 on Apple II)
Description
Lots of people believe that wind power is the energy of the future—clean, efficient, and generally great to have around—as long as you don't put wind turbines in their neighborhood. In this simulation game the player is tasked with generating a set amount of power by building wind turbines, but they must balance their energy needs versus the political capital lost when the locals decide to protest. Build too big and more money may be lost than gained.
There are three levels of difficulty: Easy, Normal, and Hard. Players can research a parcel of land before building a turbine to determine if the power output will be enough. Turbines come in three sizes: the larger the turbine, the more likely the locals are to protest. The game ends when the player reaches their energy goal, or runs out of the allotted time.
