Tetsuo Gaiden
Description
Tetsuo Gaiden is a shoot 'em up in the style of Galaga. The player controls a small spaceship at the bottom of the screen and has too shoot enemies that fly around on the screen in predefined patterns. The enemies also fire at the player so he has to dodge their attacks simultaneously. The game can be played in classic mode where the background is represented by a static star field, or the game can be played with a FMV of asteroids in the background.

The Good
Background graphics when using the DVC cartridge.
Good game mechanics.
The Bad
Bullets from enemies are sometimes hard to see because of the background.
The Bottom Line
The enemies come down in waves, a new wave of new enemies will only appear when you have killed all enemy in the current wave. Every time the current wave re-enters the screen one enemy is added and points are deducted from your score multiplier until you hit a 100 points. This is the minimum. Every killed enemy is worth the points your score multiplier displays. The score multiplier goes up for each wave that you clear, or can go up when you bump into a bonus item. Shooting the bonus item will add 2500 points to your score, bumping into them releases the special powers contained within the bonus item. But your bonus multiplier can also go down with the deduct bonus item. If you bump into 2 power-up bonus items, your ship will get more fire power.
Sometimes it can be a bit hard to see where the enemy is shooting, because the shots are so tiny, that they tend to blend into the background. With the digital video cartridge installed the game will become very colorful and a lot of background animation is added.
