A Gem Obscured by the Sands of Time...
The Good
EVERYTHING.
The Bad
It ended eventually.
The Bottom Line
This game should have gotten MUCH better recognition than it did; it's one of Capcom's masterpieces. This trilogy-concluding epic ( the first two games being Gargoyle's Quest 1 & 2) put you yet again in the role of the demon Firebrand, the legendary Red Blazer. It was your mission to tackle the hideous regime of General Phalanx and his lieutenant, Arma. You traversed through many beautiful levels and used the powers of the Demon Crests to destroy your opponents. This game was damn fun and needs a remake. Or a port. Or some goddamn PRESS. Review this game in your Retro section, Game Informer, at least!

The Good
The rich colour graphics and the organ music with choruses capture the demonic atmosphere perfectly. The levels are fairly easy to navigate and the secrets are exciting to uncover. The multiple forms Firebrand can take add variety in attacks and special moves. The multiple endings certainly incorporate replayability. The secret boss for the real ending feels like a great reward, however difficulty it is to beat.
The Bad
Not a lot to dislike about the game. Perhaps to an extent its a bit short having only eight areas. There's also a couple of recurring bosses, but that is forgivable. The most annoying parts are where you need to keep on lighting candles in the darkened parts of the second and six areas. Its safe to say that the good aspects of the game heavily outweigh the bad ones.
The Bottom Line
This game is a must play for ever SNES gamer. While it's easier and a lot less in the RPG genre than its prequels, the game never ceases to entertain. You don't very often see games where you play as a demon. Truly a credit to Capcom and their Ghosts n' Goblins franchise. Sadly the last game in the Gargoyle's Quest series. One can only wish for the prequels to be remade in exactly the same graphic and audio style as Demon's Crest.
