Battle Monsters

Battle Monsters is a pathetic two-player game, but as a one-player game it does provide some entertainment. If you're going to sit down with some friends and play a fighting game, this isn't the one: many fighting games out there are much better. But if you're bored and lonely, and feel the need to beat up a headless guy, Battle Monsters might keep you occupied for five or ten minutes.

This fighting game doesn't even deserve coverage - but someone has to tell you how bad this piece of garbage is. Battle Monsters is worse than Rise of the Robots, another Acclaim Hall of Shame member. You'll want to get into a real fight rather than play this sluggish fighter.

Unfortunately, with the first kick thrown, you get the impending sense that you are about to have one of the worst gaming experiences of your life. After only thirty minutes, you will feel mentally and physically ill from playing this game. With no redeeming values, it only tortures and frustrates, making this game genuine punishment.

This is not the kind of game that the Saturn, or Saturn players, need right now. There's a fair sized market of Saturn gamers out there looking for more out of a game than lame looking fighters and tired old "special" moves. Acclaim has the resources, and has bought the talent pool, to make games much better than this. Don't buy this one, gamers. Save yourself the pain.
