Runes of Magic
Description official descriptions
Runes of Magic is an online role-playing game in the tradition of World of Warcraft. It is free to play: You don't have to pay for the download; there are also no monthly fees like in comparable games. The game supports itself with an item shop in which you can buy items like clothes - with real money. These items are not essential to enjoy the game.
However, the price is not the only unique element this game offers. Most importantly, at level ten you have to choose a second class. With six standard classes this offers thirty possible class combinations. It is comparable to multi classing in Dungeons & Dragons games like Baldur's Gate.
The eponymous magic runes are similar to the runes in Diablo II - certain items have sockets and can be improved by adding these runes. From level 15 on you can combine runes to get even stronger benefits.
Most of the quests are the usual "kill x monsters" type - standard in online RPGs. Together with other adventures you travel into dungeons to get better runes and kill bosses.
