Punishment: The Punishing
Description
Punishment: The Punishing is the sequel to Punishment. It is a masochistic platformer where the player is constantly punished for both success and failure. It consists of different rooms that can be exited through an elevator. To open the entrance, a switch must be flipped and it is usually located on a hard-to-reach platform. In the first game, the player was punished for missing a platform by being dropped down several levels. In the sequel, retracing your steps becomes a necessity.
As soon as a new room is unlocked, the player needs to travel back to the lowest level to flip the main switch and then work his way back up. On top of that, dying in a room forces the player to replay and flip all switches of that room again. There are no objects that flip controls or turn the room like in the first game. Instead, it is heavily focused on jumping with precision and timing moving platforms.
There are only controls for movement and jumping, and the game can be played by two players using a single keyboard. An updated version of the game introduced automatic saving and online highscores.
