Larva Mortus
Description official description
The international agency in charge of investigating paranormal and strange phenomena have hired a new agent and it seems just in time. It's the end of the 19th century and there's been a sudden rise in the instances of evil creatures roaming around. As the investigation leads to an old expedition taken on by a group of adventurers mysteries surrounding the event unravel themselves as our hero delves deeper.
Larva Mortus places you in the role of a lone investigator who has to shoot his way through multitudes of forests, dungeons, houses, graveyards and the like as he tries to investigate the sudden rise of demon activity. Our hero has access to loads of weaponry that he will find along the way from the classics like revolvers, shotguns, and machine guns, to more advance ones like flame throwers, crossbows and the mysterious Dynamo-Gun (designed by Nikola Tesla). All weapons, settings and even actions such as reloading or using weapons are contemporary to the setting of the game and are therefore designed with Victorian themes in mind ie: crank operated machine guns.
Your main quest will take you all over the world and you may choose to pursue the main quest or take other side missions to build up your experience. Gaining experience will allow you to build up points and distribute them in areas you like such as constitution, regeneration, poison resistance, luck, or even how fast you walk.
The thirty different kinds of denizens in the catacombs you traverse range from the natural; bats and spiders, to the supernatural; ghosts, zombies, demons, werewolves. Most missions are straightforward requiring you to kill all the monsters and clear the rooms but some will require that you find keys or artifacts. Some missions will also need you to destroy the portals that monsters are entering through or will need you to save trapped people or lost souls. Killing the creatures is fairly simple. From your top-down view aim with your mouse and shoot in the direction you're facing Different weapons will have varying strength against every creature. Ghouls for example last longer against arrows then they do against electricity. Likewise, flaming zombies are quicker dispatched with a sword then they are with a flame thrower.
Levels in the game are generated randomly so no two catacombs will look alike. Strewn across the levels are crates, coffins and wooden barrels which you can break to find bonuses like ammo, health or special power-ups. Special power-ups can give you extra points, armor, double damage or make you walk faster.
