Find Your Own Way Home
Description
Ruby is a TV reporter for an entertainment channel, assigned with the live coverage of a red carpet event for the rock band REO Speedwagon. She must make all the preparations necessary in her personal schedule to arrive in time at the concert and meet the musicians.
Find Your Own Way Home is a hidden object game with many variations and mini-games, using the band REO Speedwagon as the main theme. The game takes place on various locations related to the plot, where the objective is to find and click on all the items listed at the right side. The interface has the outline of a guitar neck with several features, like four top buttons for the hint system surrounding the band logo, and three tuning keys that give access to the list of objects, inventory and tasks list. The journal sitting below the list keeps track of all the information gathered through the game, like the unlocked videos, images and songs stored in the smartphone.
In some locations, a list of tasks has to be accomplished by using the inventory objects as in most adventure games, by dragging and dropping them on logical places in the scenery to perform necessary actions or complete tasks. There are some gameplay variations in some scenes, where the player has to find objects that share a common characteristic (like making noise), click on the differences between two similar images, take photographs of certain parts of the scenery or collect the items in a specific order. Mini-games appear on separate screens, where picture puzzles have to assembled, a game of Simon has to be completed by hitting a drum set in sequence, a street path has to be created for the protagonist car by switching the traffic lights on a map, and other similar challenges. They can be skipped after a few minutes.
Each jewel button around the logo has a different type of hint. The green button shows the position of one of the required objects, the red button shows an image of the first list item, the yellow button removes one of the list entries and the blue button changes the cursor into a compass pointing towards one of the list objects. A special golden ticket is well-hidden inside the game as part of a promotion, giving players the chance to win tickets for a concert and take a photo with the band in 2010.
