An all-time classic

The Good
Perfect blend between realism and playability. You always face new challenges whenever you start a new game. This, coupled with the fascination of watching all your little vehicles move around and checking the charts to find possible trouble-spots, makes for an enormous replay value. Two-player mode is even more fun, but it's not always you have two computers and someone to play with. This is definitely one of the five games that I've enjoyed the most and spent the most time playing in my 17 years of computer gaming.

The Bad
The speed could be a problem on one of the slower 486:s, but that's not an issue anymore. There are also certain limits to the number of vehicles which may become irritating. The AI is somewhat weak and compensates this by cheating a little (ie the AI doesn't have to pay for leveling land, since it's so bad at it that it would be ruined by the fees). At a certain year you can start building monorail. At this point you usually have an extensive rail network, and the game doesn't provide good enough tools to make the process of replacing the old rails with monorails easy. It's a very tedious task. However, the unofficial patch fixes many of the weak points of the game.

The Bottom Line
A brilliant game that could easily keep you occupied for hundreds of hours if you let it.

Better than Sim City, and a Close Second to Sim City 2000, Truely one of the BEST

The Good
It is one of the most addictive games a person can play. You just want to keep playing and playing , purchasing better units, and stomping the computer players. The controls are simple and jumping right into this game is easy. This is a game that truely shows why Microprose is one of the all time best.

The Bad
The fact that it goes so slow, and you can speed it up. The music gets annoying as well. The lack of a good computer AI is sad. You can have the difficulty level at the MAX and still walk all over them.

The Bottom Line
An ALL-Time GREAT!!!!!

In one line; A Great Game

The Good
Just about everything. The detail in the game is great and the music is the best I have ever heard in a computer game.

The Bad
The only thing I didn't like about this game was the fact that only the player and AI vehicles are shown on screen. To make the game seem more realistic, other vehicles such as cars could be shown (remember not everyone will want to travel by public transport)

The Bottom Line
Overall just a great game. Once you get your transport company up and running you can just sit back and watch the vehicles going about their business. Very enjoyable indeed.

Trivia

Remake

The fan remake OpenTTD from 2004 rebuilds the game from the ground up, but can use an existing installation of Transport Tycoon Deluxe to use the classic graphics and audio instead of the community recreations.
