Stargunner

Zu Beginn meines Tests hätte ich noch gnadenlos drei Sterne verteilt. Nach der Eingewöhnungsphase von circa fünf Spielen schlich sich aber ein sanfter Suchteffekt ein; für mich das untrügliche Anzeichen für ein gutes Spiel. Für noch mehr Zacken langt es aber nicht mehr, denn alles ist in der einen oder anderen Form schon einmal dagewesen. Trotzdem: Da wir Ballerspiel-Fans auf dem PC nicht gerade verwöhnt werden, ist Stargunner eine erfreuliche Neuerscheinung. Wenn nicht gerade etwas anderes auf der Spiel-Wunschliste steht, bitte zugreifen.

Fans of the classic side-scrolling shooters ought to be thanking Apogee for their recent title, Stargunner. This is a straightforward little game that does just exactly what it should and does it better than virtually anything else in recent memory. Remember games like Gradius, Life Force and R-Type fondly? Then, Stargunner is the game for you. Sharp, good looking graphics (though the game seemed to have trouble detecting VESA 2.0 on several cards that it was tested with), solidly designed levels and a vast power-up system, not to mention, of course, good control make this the classic arcade-style shooter the PC's been yearning for.
