Nitro
Description official descriptions
A racing game in which four cars - up to three of them can be controlled by players - complete for the first place in over 20 levels.
These levels are divided into four themes, and a few of them are played at night: Although it's hard enough to tell which way to go in the eight-way-scrolling maps during the day, you're sure to hit many barriers and walls at night when only your headlights give you any clues about where to go.
Depending on how well you raced, you'll get money to upgrade your car - and you'll also need to refuel your car! There are three types of cars to choose from, and depending on what kind of terrain a level is on, making the right choice here can give you the edge.

Fans of top down racers, play this!
The Good
Back when 3D graphics became the defacto standard it was hard to make detailed driving games. Pseudo 3D environments, wireframe graphics engines and other solutions just couldn’t produce a super detailed map to race around in.
Nitro is a top down racer. The top down racing genre typically has a very detailed map as Nitro do. There are a couple of different maps to race around in like city and forest maps and they are nicely detailed with many small details. The handling of the car is great. You have the ability to upgrade your car after races and if you upgrade your engine and not your tires your car will handle like a power car in the corners. You race against three other CPU driven cars, if you like to you can race with two other friends against one CPU controlled car. One of the best things in Nitro is that it’s fully realistic to be able to complete the game. I have done it many times, I also like the end of the game but I somehow don’t think the final image fits in the theme of the game.
The Bad
In the night races, when you don’t know the tracks you could easily get lost and become very frustrated.
The Bottom Line
As far as top down racers go, I think Nitro is up there with the greatest top down racers. You should play it if you like classic racing games.
