Description
Alien Assault is a turn-based, top-down strategy game taking place on abandoned space ships infested with the deadly aliens who are planning an invasion of Earth. The player takes charge and commands a squadron of heavily armed troopers.
Over 50 squad-based missions are included as well as a built-in level editor. Every mission can have one of ten goals, e.g. protecting an area or simply surviving. After the briefing the player needs to choose his squad and equip them with weapons. The gameplay itself is similar to most turn-based tactics games: the actions a character can undertake during a round are limited with action points - every action costs a certain amount of points. Additionally there are command points which can be used for any member of the team. Optionally the player can turn on a time limit for the planning phase to increase tension. Other aspects to keep in mind are line of sight, items and other environmental obstacles. After a mission the team members get promoted or receive medal if they fulfill the requirements. Medals have no gameplay effects, but promotions reward certain bonuses.
