**EA SHIPS NBA STREET FOR THE PLAYSTATION 2

FOLLOWING CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED SSX UNDER THE EA SPORTS BIG BRAND, NBA STREET DELIVERS STREET BASKETBALL WITH STYLE AND ATTITUDE**

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., June 19, 2001 – Electronic Arts (“EA”) announced it is shipping NBA STREET for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the second title to be released under the EA SPORTS BIG’ brand. NBA STREET allows players to take basketball back to its roots on blacktop courts throughout North America, while facing off against the best the NBA has to offer and the EA SPORTS BIG Street Legends. First team to “21” wins, but in NBA STREET style and attitude are as important as putting the ball in the basket.

“When we embarked on making NBA STREET more than a year ago our goal was to capture the attitude and culture of streetball, while at the same time making a unique and fun game for everyone, not just basketball fans, ” said producer Wil Mozell. “We focused on making the entire game a fun experience, where defense is as fun to play as offense. We feel like we accomplished this and that players will feel the same way.”

NBA STREET features two gameplay modes, City Circuit and Hold the Court. City Circuit challenges players to battle the best of “The Street” in a unique level-based challenge. Win, and players can add a team member from the defeated team to their own. This is important when taking on the dominating level bosses: the Street Legends. Beat the Street Legends and players will add them, as well as their home court, to their squad. Even with Michael Jordan as a teammate, beating the Legends on their respective home courts is a challenge. Hold the Court mode challenges players pick a court and try to win a set number of consecutive games against mixed squads of NBA players. Game players can win accessories ranging from shoes to points for creating one’s own male or female street legend.

In NBA STREET the rules are loosened up allowing for goaltending, and without refs to call fouls offensive players must get creative to score. Players can snatch a ball from midair or initiate body contact on the shooter during a shot and not worry about a whistle being blown, making defense and offense equally as fun.

The animations and movements in NBA STREET use motion capture performed by some of the best streetballers in the country and are based on real-life physics, but are pumped up for over the top arcade-action. Amazing dunks, high-flying rejections, hard-hitting collisions and street dribbling moves like “Dinner’s Served” and “Off the Chain” are just a few highlights NBA STREET delivers.

Choose to play 12 of the most intricate courts ever seen in a console basketball game. From the rooftops of downtown Los Angeles, to the snowy streets of Boston, to Rucker Park in New York City, these are the toughest and hippest courts in the country.

Up and coming pop group 3LW contributed their voices to announce different dunks and trick moves in NBA STREET and show off their skills on the blacktop as an unlockable team. Complimenting 3LW’s commentary is NBA STREET court announcer, Joe “The Show” Jackson, a character who doesn’t mince words while he analyzes the in-game action. Funky beats from the out of this world DJ crew, Ninja Tune, add further flavor to the streetballers moves on the asphalt.

NBA STREET is rated “E” (Everyone) by the ESRB. NBA STREET is analog controller compatible and supports one or two players. Consumers may purchase the game directly at the EA Store (http://www.eastore.ea.com), or by calling EA Direct Sales at 1.877.324.2637, for a suggested retail price of $49.95. A Nintendo GameCube’ version of NBA STREET will be available next year.

Here, talkin' trash is a fundamental.

Prefer sturdy two-handed chest passes to no-look behind-the-back dishes? Buy a time machine and travel back to 1935. If you'd rather slam home a sweet 360 between-the-legs dunk, then step right up to EA Sports' NBA Street.

Fully licensed by the NBA, Street is an arcade-style hoops game which puts your favorite NBA players on outdoor courts and permanently glues the rulebook shut. Cartoonish players compete in three-on-three games, and the first squad to reach 21 points wins.

Simple play control makes this game easy for anyone to pick up and immediately start performing insane dribbles and dunks. The best way to describe the flashy gameplay in NBA Street? Read on ...

Take Jason Williams, Allen Iverson and Busta Rhymes. Toss them all into a gigantic blender and hit the "Liquefy" button. Take this mixture and place it in a piñata. Take said piñata and lower it from the rafters at an *N SYNC concert. Become friends with the sound guy. Calmly announce to the crowd that the first person to puncture the piñata will win a date with J.C. The ensuing chaos matches the ferocity with which these ballers pound the pavement.

Goaltending, charging, hacking and trash talking are not only legal -- they're encouraged. Buying in to the old "Two turbo buttons are better than one" theory, the game designers have blessed players with THREE turbo buttons to exploit. To deliver the dopest dribbles and dunks, you'll need to mash those turbo buttons like a wet-behind-the-thumbs rookie playing Super Street Fighter Turbo for the first time. But don't worry. There's no shortage of Turbo juice.

As you humiliate the competition with pump-fakes and above-the-rim rejections, your Gamebreaker Meter will slowly increase. When it's full, your chances of draining an outside shot are greatly increased. It's like subbing Reggie Miller for your little brother when you need a big basket at clutch time.

The primary mode of play is City Circuit Mode, which takes you on a tour of the country's most happenin' hoops hotspots. After disgracing a few NBA players from each region you visit, you'll be challenged by a trio of local players. Every time you defeat a team, you can add a player to your own squad. Beat an NBA lineup, pick an NBA star at the end of the game. The flamboyant players earned by defeating local squads each have unique characteristics. Biggs is huge shot-blocking presence, while Bonafide is diminutive dribbling specialist.

You can only hit the court with three players at a time, but by the time you work your way through the City Circuit you'll have an all-star line-up at your disposal.

If you'd prefer to watch a spitting image of yourself schoolin' Shaq Daddy, use the Create Player Mode to make a mini-you. You can make your clone stronger as you progress through City Circuit, and you'll unlock fashionable accessories by faring well in Hold the Court mode.

NBA Street's reward system is one of the reasons why it's so fun. Successful shooters will constantly be unlocking new players, courts and (aw yeah ...) codes. The game also keeps track of how many Trick Points the best players have earned (thousands of Trick Points are earned by performing special trick shots and flashy dribbles), and the game also displays record-holders in cool categories like Busted Rims and Dunks.

Multiple difficulty levels are available to keep your skills sharp, but the best competition is definitely the human kind. Two can players go head-to-head in Hold the Court Mode, but unfortunately you won't find any four-player love.

NBA Street is a polished game which pays tribute to what basketball is all about: having fun. If this game is in your library, you'll always have a game on-hand which your friends will easily be able to pick up and play. Whether or not they're still your friends after the game depends on how much trash you talk.

Game progress is saved to a Nintendo GameCube Memory Card 59.
