The game:

Defiant. Determined. Destructive.

Located on the outer rim of a distant galaxy is a planet with deep secrets and a mysterious origin. This is Iron Star, a world inhabited by a society of robots. During a disaster in the science lab, a sinister robot with a mind of its own was created—the evil General Corrosive. After eliminating his makers, this powerful machine began to fulfill his dream of creating the ultimate army. Using his superior intellect, he took over a robot manufacturing plant and began producing a militia of robot minions dedicated to serving him. He called this new race the Mils. The pillage of Iron Star began shortly afterward as they overtook all of the robot manufacturing facilities to build more Mil soldiers. At this point the Droids, the working class robots of Iron Star, became slaves of Gen. Corrosive.

However, in a small city in an obscure part of Iron Star, a small faction of Droid rebels managed to infiltrate and take over one of the robot manufacturing plants. From the Mil units they destroyed in the battle, the Droids scavenged enough material to build a single small Droid with an advanced intellect … Glitch.

You are Glitch, the underdog robot with a vicious attitude. It’s your responsibility to embark on an adventure of action and exploration to save your mechanical comrades from the reign of terrifying Mil robot forces.

Metal Arms is an action-packed robotic shooter set in a vast mechanical world with multiple missions and environments. Glitch must save the inhabitants of Iron Star from the clutches of General Corrosive and his minions. As the adventure unfolds, you’ll need to explore fascinating regions of this robot planet, drive a vast array of vehicles, gain powerful upgrades, and defeat deadly enemies to ensure the survival of your race.

Metal Arms also boasts a smorgasbord of witty writing and story elements. Thanks to the creativity of a talented team of television and cartoon series writers, Metal Arms is what most other products only attempt to be—a funny game that’s also entertaining to play.

A variety of unique gameplay is made possible by virtue of robot characters that can dismantle themselves or lose limbs and heads while continuing to attack. Glitch can also hack into the minds of giant enemy robots and force them to do his bidding. Though the game has powerful weapons, varied gameplay, and intimidating enemies, its humorous tone and unique robotic look ensure that it is a truly original game.

**New Fang Engine. The proprietary, cutting-edge Fang engine supports multiple features that make Metal Arms a uniquely striking looking game.

The custom music designed for Metal Arms will appeal to the male teen market.

Command Glitch as he ventures throughout Iron Star in an attempt to save his comrades from bondage.

Play more than 40 single-player missions in six extremely diverse environments.

Hack into computers, drive an assortment of vehicles, walk on ceilings, and wreck havoc with a turret!

Metal Arms boasts a smorgasbord of side-splitting writing and in-game humor.

The third-person point of view allows the gamer to maintain a strong identity with the personality of the character.

The controls for Metal Arms will be simple, intuitive, and customizable.

Glitch can attach primary weapons such as the Mining Laser, the Scatter Blaster, the Molten Rain Thrower, and the Saw Shooter to his right arm.

Glitch can also lob weapons such as the Thermite Grenade, the Mini-Nuke, or the Cleaner with his left hand.

Glitch can even pick up some of the weapons that the enemy bots drop.

Glitch can also upgrade many of his weapons to give him even more devastating firepower.**

A cute li'l droid gets lean and mean.

Everyone loves an underdog. In this case, the underdog just happens to be a half-ton gun-slinging robot with devastating firepower.

Features

  • Wield 18 powerful weapons
  • Commandeer four combat vehicles, including an off-road buggy and a hovercraft
  • Control 12 other friendly and enemy robots
  • Frenetic multiplayer head-to-head action
  • Solve simple puzzles

On the peaceful industrial planet of Ironstar, the evil General Corrosive has built an army of robot minions called Mils that threatens to overtake the planet. Rising from the oceans of scrap heaps left in their wake, Glitch is the last hope for freeing the oppressed robots of Ironstar. It's time to give the Mils a lesson in heavy metal.

Publisher Universal Interactive has fun with the solemn conventions of third-person shooters. For example, when Glitch blasts the arms or legs off Mils, they start behaving erratically, perhaps leaning sideways and firing off-kilter.

Scavenge destroyed robots for weapons and washers. Take the washers to Shady and Mr. Pockets, a couple of hard-bargaining junk dealers, to buy weapon upgrades.

Bottom Line

Metal Arms is a very well-produced game, with expertly done graphics, great lighting effects and excellent voice talent all contributing to a game that's, well, a blast. Some battle situations can be very tough, though, leaving you with little ammunition for fighting your way out of tight jams.
