The game drops players into the richly animated, 3D backdrop of Australia, where as the boomerang-wielding TY character, players will go “down under” for a variety of Outback-themed adventures.

TY has always believed that he’s the lone remaining Tasmanian Tiger. In order to unlock and open the portal to Dreamtime, TY will go through a series of adventures spread over a wide range of locations and meet an assortment of madcap characters that are inspired by real-life animals indigenous to Australia.

The game features many elements unique to character-based action games including a wide selection of gameplay styles like combat, riding, and puzzles as well as an array of mini-games and boss battles. Players can freely explore and discover each of the expansive Aussie environments while controlling TY who can run, jump, swim and glide. Moreover, players will have fun controlling TY and his arsenal of hi-tech boomerangs, as well as using his fierce "chomping" abilities to take on the many minions of the evil Boss Cass.

Go down under with Ty the Tasmanian Tiger

Meet Ty… a wild, yet charismatic, boomerang wielding Tasmanian Tiger whose adventures take the player through a brilliantly animated 3D environment set in the ruggedness and splendor of Australia. Ty, raised by a pack of bilbies, has only vague memories of his family and friends and believes that he is the lone remaining Tasmanian Tiger. During a chance meeting with a mystical elder, Ty discovers that his fellow Tasmanian Tigers are still alive but trapped in another world -- Dreamtime.

Ty must find five stolen talismans that will unlock and open the Dreamtime portal that is located deep within the Australian Outback. If successful, Ty will be able to free his family and reunite with them. So begins Ty’s adventurous journey where he traverses through a wide range of locations including the rainforest, snowy mountains, desert terrain and a barrier reef. Along the way, he will encounter a large cast of characters -- both friends and foes -- all of which are based on real-life animals that are indigenous to the Australian Outback. For example, the lovable Ty is inspired by the extinct Tasmanian Tiger and the evil Boss Cass -- who along with his minions presents obstacles that Ty must overcome – is a cassowary.

FEATURES - Fast-paced, light-hearted and humorous character action game whose lead hero -- Ty -- can run, jump, swim and glide.

  • Large cast of more than 50 wild characters based on real-life indigenous animals of Australia, such as the now extinct Tasmanian Tiger.

  • Wide-open, highly interactive 3D environments encompassing a variety of rugged, yet scenic Australian-themed locales, all rendered in rich detail.

  • Unique game mechanics lends for a signature Ty style -- namely a variety of signature boomerangs and powerful “chomping” ability.

  • A wide array of gameplay styles like combat and puzzles as well as “mini games” for added varying excitement. Mini-games include herding, collecting, and problem solving, to name a few.

Gamers of the world, prepare to meet Ty, a new 3D-adventure hero from Electronic Arts. Chances are that he's the most charismatic Tasmanian Tiger you'll ever meet, partially because the species is extinct.

In Ty the Tasmanian Tiger for Nintendo GameCube, Ty's family has been trapped in the Dreamtime world and now he must recover five stolen talismans to free them. No worries, mate! You can use Ty's boomerang flinging abilities and powerful chomping teeth to overcome many obstacles.

Developed by Australian codeshop Krome Studios, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger's authentic Down Under touches set it apart from other action games. In the Dreamtime -- a key part of Aboriginal creation lore -- Ty journeys to a rainforest, snowy mountains, deserts, barrier reef and other Outback locales. The game is populated by a crazy cast of more than 50 characters based on indigenous animals of Australia. You will yabber (that's Australian for "jabber," mate) with exotic birds and see more marsupials than you can shake a eucalyptus stick at.

Ty is no bludger (Australian for "loafer"). He can run, jump, swim and glide with ease. There are even several upgrades for the your trusty boomerang that will no doubt be helpful when combating the many enemies and bosses. Puzzles and minigames mix-up the action.

With colorful graphics, wide-open 3D environments and a wild Australian setting, Ty certainly makes a "Crikey!" class splash on the Nintendo GameCube.

G'day mate! Things can be a bit confusing at times, so let me remind you what's going on...
You are TY, the last of the Tasmanian Tigers. Raised by a family of Bilbies, you can only vaguely recall your real parents. You've always thought that all the other Tassie Tigers died a long time ago.

But then the Bunyip Elder found you, and told you that your family is alive, but trapped in the Dreaming. Now hold your horses... don't get upset... you see they're not stuck there forever, if you're up for a bit of an adventure!
You see, deep in the Outback, there's this kind of glowy portal thing that is a doorway to the Dreaming. And around that portal there are some carvings in the rock, where five ancient mystical Talismans used to lay. Now, all you have to do is find the five Talismans, put them in the carvings, and the portal to Dreaming will open!

Now, before you go off like a frog in a sock, there's just this one SMALL problem. You see there's this evil cassowary - Boss Cass - who's also after the Talismans. Yes. THAT Boss Cass. The one that trapped your family in the Dreaming in the first place, and told the school board to remove all the meat pies from the tuck shops. And if you didn't think that made him enough of a megalomaniac, he's ALSO trapped a whole bunch of your Bilby mates in cages all across the outback... something about overdue library books... Anyways, if you want to open the portal, you'll have to beat him and his henchmen to the Talismans!

Don't worry though, you won't be alone! You'll have a bunch of friends to help you along the way, including me - your old mate, Maurie. Now let's get down to brass tacks, find those Talismans, and rescue your family!
