View Mode: threaded | watch thread That's what happens when you go on vacation and turn your back on MobyGames. When you come home, people are going over 20,000 points all over the place! This time is our German contributor Sicarius. He's that kind of silent contributor, not very present in the forums but always submitting new items on a regular basis. As himself affirms in his rap sheet, his main turf is cover art (being the 4th top contributor in that category, right behind legendary people like Corn Popper and Servo) and so far he is the top credits contributor for 2008.Well done, Sicarius! Congratulations, Sicarius! You contribute some mighty imposing screenshots, too - that's primarily what I see - with that huge resolution that makes me miss my widescreen :)
Wow ! That's another user that's made 20,000 in what ? One month ? Well done !
Well I couldn't just stand by and let those South Americans take the whole operation over (that's just bad news) - now it's back to normal with three Germans and three Brazilians in the top ranks :).
Thanks. But be glad, that I only have a 21,4" - otherwise you would have to buy a second monitor to admire the 1920 or higher resolutions ;).

Funny. It's the second time this week that I see someone using big numbers (big in relation to what they refer to) and the word "only" in the same sentence (South Park anyone?). Anyway.Well done Sicarius! Thanks and sorry. Wasn't my intent to sound like a pampered snob.

At 20,000 points, you have the right to do so. :) Though it's great that he manages not to sound like one.
(Edited by Sicarius Re: Another 20,000 milestone: Sicarius Sicarius Thanks chirinea. I admit, I was a little sad to see no news on the particular day because I always see the others mentioned everywhere but it's nice that you remembered me! And I feel a little bit bad, that I already overtook you and Macs - but only a little bit ;).EDITH: Well Macs overtook me again but not for long I promise! :D For my speech: Special thanks of course to Sciere for his support from day 1 (also he is busy as hell currently I guess). I also thank Karl Stewart from Eidos Inc. for providing me with 20 manuals, which made my biggest project yet (the Eidos US MobyGames Project - what else? :) ) possible (and still not everything is approved from that - it seems like no one wants to touch Pony Friends). Other honorable mentions are Jeanne for showing me the credits way and bugging me about the small details in contributing an approver friendly game entry until I learned to hate her very much and Oliver Jahn for his timely approvals of the small things. And of course everyone else that complains about my stuff instead of just approving it :D. I very much appreciate your willigness to make sure that only the very best of my submissions enter the database. I also thank all the people that regulary post on the forums - you keep me from participating and instead incourage me to contribute something useful to the site instead. I love you! ;) In closing, I hope I provided and will continue to provide very high quality submissions - except for the sometimes very creative use of the English language which I correct of course, when I notice it. And I hope, that I helped make MobyGames not only a better but also more respected database. And now out with the truth: How many approvers are in the Top20? I want to know where I have a realistic chance of doing an overtake :). Congrats, good work :)

Well, you can address your complaint to Sciere, I submitted this news piece in the very day you achieved that rank (25/07/2008) and he only approved it today. Sicarius Wrote:

Ah, I'm old news already. I think I gave up competing with you guys. =) (Edited by Sciere Re: Another 20,000 milestone: Sicarius Sciere I always have to dig through tens of automated news items sent by bots about anti spam software, virus scanners and vista offers. It's not an interesting queue to go through, I need to ask Brian to make one point a minimum requirement before being able to submit news items.Edit: oh, and congratulations Sicarius. I saw right away you would make an excellent contributor since you took your time to be thorough. You will also have experienced how much your English has improved since the initial submissions. (Edited by chirinea (20536), Jul 27, 2008) Re: Another 20,000 milestone: Sicarius chirinea (20536), Jul 27, 2008 Sorry Stijn, I didn't know it was like that. Besides, you're the only one approving those (though I know the other admins can do it), so I'm not really complaining. But that 1 point thing would sure come in handy.
...and adding a captcha or something like that to the register function would also be helpful I guess. But I have full faith in Brain that he will do what needs to be done :). (Edited by Sicarius Re: Another 20,000 milestone: Sicarius Sicarius ![]() Sciere Wrote:

Nice to hear that from you. But my English only improved until 9pm. If I submit a new game entry after 9pm, I wonder the next day what the hell I was drinking while writing that shit. I'm really glad we are now able to pull our stuff back ourselves ;). And of course thanks for all the other concrats here. Now hush hush back to contributing, approving or making dumb threads on the forums! Since my initial goals for 2008 where set a little low in retrospective, I now want to conquered the 25.000 before 31.12.2008! Only 4.388 points left. ![]() Sicarius Wrote:

That's an answer you only get on the MobyGames-Forum. Everywhere else the sentence would have been "An idiot with no live. Sad." :) Well done!
Congratulations!
Congrats!
Good job.
Congrats! :-D
Congratulations from me as well!
