Tony Van

Developer BIO

Producer and Designer.

Started programming games on the Commodore Pet, TI 994A+, Atari 800, Apple IIe, then IBM 8088.

Since the late 1980s, he has produced, designed or supervised over 60 games of different genres for the IBM (floppy, CD and Online), NES, Sega (Genesis, Sega CD, 32X, GameGear), Sony (PSX & PS2), Xbox, GameCube and GBA.

He has also was a key member in creating two Internet gaming networks: Heat.Net at SegaSoft, and EA.com at Electronic Arts.

He is most proud of:

-- BatttleTech: The Crescent Hawks' Revenge PC (one of the first games to define the RTS genre, and use linked missions campaigns with persistent damaged units)

-- Shadowrun Genesis (the game he gets the most THAT GAME ROCKED responses from awed fans. All the coolness of the paper RPG, in real time with many sub-missions)

-- Star Wars: Rebel Assault PC-CD-ROM (the first FMV PC game, used my ideas of a "dynamic video background/streaming threads" design/technology, and the best selling franchise for LucasArts before KOTR & Battlefront came along)

-- Multiplayer BattleTech: 3025 PC Online (a very cool 3D 'Mech combat MMO that never officially launched.)

-- the CSI Franchise for PC, Mac, Xbox (where he got to re-invent the crime adventure game, and hob-nob with the stars and crew of the show a number of times.)

Check his website for the inside stories on making all of these games.
