Jay AbbotDeveloper BIO
Jay first entered into the world of gaming in late 1999, when he took a short term contract with
Electronic Arts in the UK. He joined as the European Internet Systems Administrator, hired to look after the European Online Web and Game Servers. After 6 months, he took a permanent position with the company and started to re-engineer the European Online Environment to better suit the next generation of online game play. Jay set a trail in this arena, bringing online game servers to the next level through working with development teams to ensure that they best understood the final hosting environment and feeding back through the development life cycle on next generation features and tools that would be needed to improve the experience.
Jay developed an online environment designed to be high bandwidth, low latency and massively scalable, so as to cope with the latest next generation games as and when they were released. During his 6 years with Electronic Arts, Jay worked in the Online teams, Network Engineering Teams and eventually ended up as European IT Security and Audit Manager, before moving onto a fresh challenge.
