Gary L. Freeman (Evil G) began working in the games industry for Westwood Studios, Las Vegas, Nevada in 1995. He worked over 7 years with Westwood in association with Virgin Interactive and later Electronic Arts where he is officially listed in the credits of at least 10 games.

His credits include Concept Art, Promotional Art, Illustration, Logo Design, Prop Design, Packaging Layouts, Style Guides, Texture Design, In-game Graphics as well as In-game 3D Assets. He is also officially credited with Acting/Voiceovers, Additional Graphics/Artwork, Graphics/Artwork, 3D Modeling, Other and the coveted “Special Thanks to”.

After Westwood’s liquidation in 2003, Gary continued to produce award-winning work as an independent contractor for numerous clients including Smart Bomb Interactive in collaboration with Namco Bandai Games. He was hired by Mad Doc Software in 2005 to help visualize an updated look for the Empire Earth franchise of RTS games, published by the Sierra Entertainment.

Prior to 1995 he spent twenty years working in advertising and publishing as Graphic Designer / Layout Artist, Art Director, and Illustrator. He has illustrated book and magazine covers in the science fiction and fantasy genre for such notable publishers as ACE Paperback Books, Bantam Doubleday Dell, TSR Inc., Davis Publishing, Analog Magazine, Amazing Stories, Science Fiction Age Magazine, Asimov’s Science Fiction, Heavy Metal Magazine and others.

Recognition
His art has received numerous awards and recognition including multiple “ADDY” awards for Best Advertising Illustrations, a Judge’s Choice Award from the American Institute for Graphic Arts, as well as winning 3 Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine Reader’s Polls for Best Cover Artist and Best Interior Artist. His illustrations have been chosen for inclusion into SPECTRUM 7, 11 and 12 (The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art), Expose 3 (The Finest Digital Art in the Known Universe) from Ballistic Publishing as well as the 35th annual and exhibit of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
