Free Fall Associates

Overview

Founded by John Freeman and Anne Westfall, the name being a portmanteau of their last names. Both of them left Epyx in 1981 to spend more time together and to get away from the office politics at a now larger company.

Free Fall was only a game developer, they did not want any part of publishing, marketing and distributing of games. They were the first company to sign a contract with Electronic Arts, and was a big part of their early success as a publisher.

They are most famous for the Archon titles.

Trivia

The company name is of course taken from the last names of its founders: Freeman and Anne Westfall... a much better name for their company than "Westman" would have been!
