Empire Interactive Entertainment
Overview
Empire Interactive is one of the original and more successful game software publishers in the world. Our success has been due, very simply, to our ability to consistently publish great games for over 12 years. It's an achievement few other games publishers can match !
Headquartered in the UK, we have operations in every major territory in the world, and staff dedicated to each key link in the publishing and distribution chain. Our success is based on 2 working practices:
A commitment to a high standard of product quality, and
A dedication to involve our development partners in the entirety of the publishing process.
Empire HistoryFounded in 1987, Empire Interactive remains at the forefront of computer games development and publication by consistently developing high quality, successful games. The Empire Interactive publishing brand was the result of Entertainment International (UK) Ltd joining forces with Oxford Digital Enterprises in 1989. At that time, Entertainment International (UK) Ltd was renowned for its Pan European Sales, Marketing and Distribution skills. The Company was successful in working with European, US and third party publishers, bringing hit titles such as the Dragons Lair series, Disney games and educational software to Europe. At the same time, Oxford Digital Enterprises was a leading software development company contracted by major publishers to develop both original and license-based titles. Major properties such as Trivial Pursuit and The Hunt for Red October soon built a reputation. It was a natural collaboration.
The resultant Empire was immediately successful publishing hits such as the Team Yankee series of Tank sims, the Paul Gascoigne ("Gazza") soccer games as well as Pipemania. Published across all major platforms including the Nintendo console and handheld systems, 'Pipemania' was one of very few titles to make the transition from Home Systems to the arcades.
It also provided Empire with its first successful launch in the ever-growing North America market via a relationship with Lucasfilm and latterly Microsoft. Collaboration with Nintendo and Sega saw the Company develop titles for all of the major Home Computer and Console systems, whilst relationships with Hanna Barbera and Sullivan Bluth brought mainstream cartoons such as Yogi Bear and Space Ace to the growing market.
More recently, the Company has concentrated on developing its own Product Franchises across platforms including: PC CD-ROM, SEGA’ Dreamcast and Sony PlayStation®. The result of this can be seen in the success of products such as Flying Corps, Grand Touring, Pro Pinball, Enemy Engaged and International Cricket Captain. Empire Interactive PLC joined the Alternative Investment Market of London Stock Exchange in July 2000.
